Installing

Download the installer and run it. LESSRAM installs for your user account only, so Windows will not ask for administrator rights. It adds a Start Menu entry, and a desktop shortcut if you leave that box ticked.

Builds are not yet code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen may show "Windows protected your PC". Choose More info → Run anyway if you trust the source. This goes away once signing is in place.

Signing in

Create an account on first launch. Usernames are 3–32 characters: letters, numbers, dot, dash or underscore.

Shortcuts

• Ctrl+Shift+L — open or close LESSRAM from inside a game. Rebindable in Settings.
• Ctrl+Shift+M — mute. Works while the window is closed.
• Ctrl+Shift+D — deafen.
• Ctrl+, — settings.

The floating widget

A small always-on-top handle. Drag it anywhere and it remembers where, even across monitor changes. Click it to open LESSRAM, right-click to hide it (bring it back from the tray icon). It never takes keyboard focus, so clicking it will not tab you out of a game. When a call comes in it widens into answer and decline buttons.

Voice

Click a voice channel to join, or call a friend directly from their row in the friends list. Audio goes peer-to-peer, so it does not route through a server.

If a connection struggles, LESSRAM retries by itself and shows Reconnecting. If it truly cannot get through it says Connection failed rather than pretending.

Screen sharing

From the voice bar, choose a screen or a single window, then a frame rate and a resolution cap. 60 fps at 1080p looks best for fast games but needs real upload bandwidth; 30 fps is a safer default. When bandwidth tightens, LESSRAM keeps the frame rate and drops resolution — the opposite of what most tools do, and the right trade for gameplay.

Click someone in the voice list who is sharing to watch their stream.

Games and fullscreen

The widget sits above borderless and windowed games, which is what most games default to. It cannot draw over a game running in exclusive fullscreen — no ordinary window can. The global shortcut and the tray icon still work in every case.

Updates

LESSRAM checks for updates on launch and every six hours, downloads them quietly in the background, and tells you once when one is ready. It never restarts on its own. Apply it from Settings → About when you are not in the middle of something.

Using your own server

LESSRAM talks to whichever server you point it at. Change it in Settings → General → Server address. Changing it signs you out, because accounts belong to a server.

Where your data lives

Settings and your session are stored in %APPDATA%\lessram-desktop. Uninstalling leaves that folder in place so reinstalling does not sign you out. Delete it by hand if you want a clean slate.
